LG opens call center in Panama

The center will employ 600 agents and will receive three million calls a year

Panama Star The LG Electronics Information Consumers Center will receive calls from Panama, Venezuela, Guatemala, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, United States, Central America and the Caribbean.

LG Electronics selected Panama as the location for his call center because of its geographical position, which is a great advantage for telecommunications.

The company invested over $3 million in its new premises located in Albrook that with an area of approximately 4,000 square meters in a specially refurbish building.

The company also opened the first Commercial Air Conditioner Academy in the region, that will give training to all the personnel in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, and all Central America and the Caribbean.

The academy will give seminars to Panamanian engineers and architects about new technologies.

LG is another multinational that has come to Panama because of the fiscal incentives and its geographical position.

Although the global financial crisis is affecting the turnovers of big companies, it is expected that others such as 3M, Hewlett Packard and Caterpillar will continue to invest in the country.

The Korean company is following the steps of other corporative giants that are moving their call centers to third world countries that are offered better incentives in order to generate local employment.
