Bus owners are protesting over compensation
![]() The government promise to pay them $25000 each, but the scheme folded
PANAMA. Bus owners got together yesterday to decide if their 24 hours strike will continue indefinitely, if the government does not agrees to pay them $25,000 each under the Transmovil compensation scheme.
The scheme has been temporarily stopped by the Supreme Court due to a lawsuit that was requesting that it was declared unconstitutional. The government only paid 30 bus owners the compensation, but the other 320 are still waiting. During the strike some bus owners increased the fares from 25 cents to $1.50 and irate passengers attacked them. If the strike continues will commence on April 13, but not decision has been made.
