Toyota now among best in F1, says Trulli

Some protest their use of rear diffusers, which make the car more aerodynamic
Panama Star SHANGHAI. Toyota's solid start to the season proves they are now of the best teams in Formula One, an upbeat Jarno Trulli said ahead of this week's Chinese Grand Prix.
The Italian veteran and his teammate Timo Glock have both scored top four finishes in the opening two races of the season -- in Australia and Malaysia -- to put Toyota second behind Brawn GP in the constructors standings.
Part of the success can be attributed to their use of contentious rear diffusers that make the car more aerodynamic, a move that was protested by several teams in Australia.
While the protests were rejected, the outcome of an appeal hearing into the matter is expected this week -- and could see Toyota stripped of their points if it is ruled the diffusers breach technical regulations.
Despite the controversy Trulli is confident of another strong showing in Shanghai for Toyota, who made their Formula One debut in 2002 and have yet to win a race.
"I am really optimistic about the Chinese Grand Prix because we have started the season very strongly," he said.
"We are second in the constructors championship, so it's clear we are one of the top teams. And both Timo and I have consistently been fighting at the front, which is great.”
