Martinelli’s last party

PANAMA. More than 100,000 people went to the campaign closure of the Democratic Change Party, Ricardo Martinelli.

The event took place at the Amador Coastway starting at 3:00 p.m. and finishing at 7:00 p.m.

The access from the Bridge of the Americas to Amador was closed from 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning

Over 250 policemen patrolled the area to prevent accidents.

Around 2,222 buses were used to transport Martinelli’s supporters travelling coming from different points of the country.

Before the speeches of Ricardo Martinelli and his vice-president Juan Carlos Varela , various musical groups entertained the public, who patiently waited under the blazing sun to hear from their candidates.

The organizers distributed bottles of liquid and 100,000 bags of food among the sympathizers.

Although there were thousands of people in one place there were no incidents.

Martinelli during his final speech before the May 3 general election said that if he becomes president, he will do everything in his power to reform the country and give citizens a more secure environment, better education and a more efficient health service.

Varela supported Martinelli’s views by saying that the people are tired of the same excuses and wanted a change for the better with lower food prices and higher salaries.

Martinelli is leading in the the polls with 51 percent and Balbina Herrera is in second place with 35 percent.
