Last year a similar delegation made loans and guarantees worth over $300 million
Panama Star PANAMA. The commercial mission from Canada’s Atlantic coast started holding meetings with Panamanian businessmen from the maritime sector yesterday.
Technology companies such as Blue Ocean Satellite System, Irving Shipbuilding (tugboat builders for the Panama Canal), the human resource company Great Circle Maritime Services and the Center for Marine Simulation (CMS), showcased their products to member companies of Panama’s Maritime Chamber and different officials from Panama Canal’s Authority (ACP).
Nathan Andrew Nelson, regional manager of Canada’s Export Development bank, said this is the third visit to Panama in the last 2 and a half years. “This time we have 11 companies that see Panama as one of the main countries in the region. In the maritime sector, more than 14,000 ships pass through Panama every year, and the country has important ports,” he said.
Nelson said they made guarantees and loans in Panama for $ 300 million last year.
Meetings between Panamanian businessmen and the Canadian commercial mission will continue until this Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Hotel Riande Continental.
Future meetings will be held to identity distributors, businessmen and clients in other economic sectors such as construction, education, telecommunication, agriculture and fishing, technology, recycling and more.
