The Immigration Officers will not let visitors enter without their tourist cards

Panama Star PANAMA. The Immigration Department is becoming more strict with American visitors and all of them must have a tourist visa or card which cost $5.

The customs officer will not let any Americans into the country without the card, the forms are normally provided by the airlines and they are in English and Spanish.

The VISA is typically good for 90 days for American visitors (at times it is 30 days).

Immigration authorities in Panama are beginning to adopt tougher measures and currently require that foreigners carry some form of identification with them and those people who do not comply will be fined.

Last year the National Assembly approved a new immigration law requiring that all foreigners resident in Panama will have to have a new identification carnet, but due to the recent presidential election, the Electoral Tribunal delay its introduction, although it only has until August of this year to comply with the statutes directives.
