No work no pay for legislators

Extra $80 received by members of the National Assembly will be eliminated
Panama Star PANAMA. The current president of the National Assembly, Jose Luis “Popi” Varela said that legislators who do not attend sessions will not receive their wages, because they are not doing their work.
Varela made the announcement during the inauguration ceremony of President Ricardo Martinelli.
He added that he was also going to to eliminate the $80 for expenses that legislators received for attending extraordinary sessions.
Legislator Varela added that he will put a stop to the exemptions to which members of the National Assembly are entitled in order to help third parties.
Varela said during his speech that it is up to the members of the National Assembly to create big solutions and renew the legislative organization.
