PANAMA. The multinational information technology company Hewlett Packard (HP) opened its new Best Shore and Deliver Center in Panama, creating 145 jobs and in support of its sister center in Costa Rica. The building has the capacity to accommodate up to 500 employees and is located in the Banking Center.

The General Director of HP Panama, Greg Betz, said that the total investment of the project was $13 million and that HP will provide technical support for its clients both in Central America and around the world.

HP has also made an agreement to train future employees at the Technological University and the Human Resources Institute (INADEH) so that the company will have a pool of trained individuals once the company decides to expand.

Betz said that currently HP is developing the service side of the business and does not plan to open a manufacturing plant in Panama. However, this could be a possibility in the future, depending on the market. The General Manager said that his company chose Panama because of its geographical position, the incentives given by the government and its stability.
