WYD Via Crucis will expose the reality of Latin America

In the afternoon of this Friday the Via Crucis will take place at the WYD main stage located in the Santa Maria La Antigua Field. The cross, WYD symbol, will be carried by groups of young people.

The 14 stations of the Way of the Cross will be reenacted this Friday afternoon at the stage of the Santa Maria La Antigua Field, located on the Coastal Strip, which aims to expose the Latin American reality, which will be done by each one of the youth delegations that are participating in this activity.

The World Youth Day (WYD) events coordinator, Jose Pepe Casis, explained the way each one of the stations will be.

According to the program, Honduras will have the subject of the poor, young people and the priestly vocations. While Cuba will explore the topics of unity and ecumenism.

The Via Crucis third station will correspond to youth delegation of El Salvador and subject will be the church of the martyrs.

While the reality of indigenous people in Latin America will be staged in the fourth station and the Guatemala delegation will be in charge of it.

This fifth station will be for Costa Rica, and the delegation will touch the theme of ecology in the region.

Venezuela will develop the subject of refugees and migrants in the sixth station.

The Haitian delegation will interpret the topic of those affected by natural disaster in the seventh station.

Brazil, one of the countries with the biggest participation in WYD, will have the eighth station and the theme assigned is young people and hope..

Dominican Republic is the ninth station which will analyze violence against women.

The Colombian delegation is the tenth station which will develop the subject of human rights in the region.

While Puerto Rico in the eleventh station will interpret one of the biggest scourges that most affect the Latin American countries: corruption.

The twelfth station has been reserved for the youth delegation of Belize, who will show  mother's role in society.

The Mexicans will be in charge of the Via Crucis thirteenth station and the subject is terrorism and murders.

Nicaragua will finish the Way of the Cross in the fourteenth station with the topic of abortion.

At the end there will be young people from Panama who will make an exhortation to hope in an event called "From the Cross to the Light".

After that Pope Francis will give his blessing. The Via Crucis will be from 17:30 to 20:00 local time.
