Panama Canal registers an increase of tonnage in 2014

The Panama Canal closed it's 2014 fiscal year with a rise of 2.0% and the tonnage of 326.8 millions, 3.2% income for toll payment

The Panama Canal closed it's 2014 fiscal year with a rise of 2.0% and the tonnage of 326.8 millions, 3.2% income for toll payment, which gave a total of $1,910.6 millions during the time from 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2014.

Panama Canal Statistics showed that the 2014 fiscal year closed with 326.8 million tons CP/SUAB (Universal System of Gross Register Tonnage of the Panama Canal), which represented an increase of 2.0% in comparison to last year's 320.6 millions.

The increase was boosted mainly by bulk carriers, which reported an increase of 18.2%, reaching a CP/SUAB of $85.9 millions, superior to that of 2013, $72.2 millions.

In general, the income fo toll payment was $1,910.6 millions in the 2014 fiscal year, which represented an augmentation of 3.2% compared to the $1,849.6 millions of 2013.
