PANAMA. Michael Morales became the first Panamanian to conquest the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal, the highest point on Earth, with 8,844 meters above sea level.

Morales’ feat took place on Friday, when he finished climbing the highest points of the Everest, after covering the 44 meters trail from the fourth “South Col” station in 11 hours.

The athlete climbed the mountain alongside the Alpine Ascents International team, after a mission that started two months ago.

Family and friends have been tracking his progress in the web site everestpanama.blogspot.com, where Morales now appears with the Panamanian flag on the top of the Everest and one of his friends says the athlete is “very happy and totally exhausted.”

Before achieving this feat, Morales climbed Mount McKniley (6,194 meters) in Alaska and the Aconcagua (6,962 meters) in Argentina.
