The Panamanian Food Safety Authority AUPSA (Autoridad Panameña de Seguridad de Alimentos) has also requested local distributors of those products to stop selling them as a precaution to avoid a possible outbreak of salmonella in Panama.
The AUPSA director, Gilberto Real said that currently his organization is carrying out tests on the suspected products to find out if any of them have been contaminated with the deadly bacteria.
Real added that by next Monday he will announce further measures with regards to products containing peanut butter which could include their withdrawal until further notice.
