PANAMA. Another move to help reduce traffic snarls in the city was introduced on the weekend, with Via Veneto a connecting road from Via Espana to Via Argentina converted to a one way route.
Via Veneto starts at McDonalds on Via España and runs past Hotel and Casino Venetto, a popular Manolo outlet, the Wine Bar and other hotels and restaurants.
The Transport Authority (ATTT) aims to alleviate traffic congestion on Via Veneto and Calle 49 Oeste behind the Inter American University.
Calle 49 Oeste, will convert two lanes to one way, from Via Argentina to Avenida Eusebio A. Morales where the hotel Panama and Casino is located
The ATTT said that currently there are considerable traffic delays in Via Veneto as well as accidents in the intersections with this road.
The Transport Authority does not rule out the possibility of changing the orientation of more roads in El Cangrejo, especially around Via Argentina, where during rush hours the traffic regularly grinds to a halt causing frequent problems for residents and drivers.
