PANAMA. Ricardo Fabrega of the Anti-Corruption Secretariat has attacked the country’s Attorney General Ana Matilde Gomez claiming she has performed poorly in prosecuting crime.
He said it was unprecedented that the day the Secretariat presented its first formal report against two of Martin Torrijos staff members, she decided to keep silent about it and changing the topic to criticize his office.
“Her silence about the excesses of the Torrijos administration, who appointed, her is suspicious”, he said.
Fabrega pointed out that Gomez has rejected no less than 15 dismissals on the grounds of inappropriateness.
He went on lamenting that Torrijos turned the National Council against corruption into an institution that only givesspeeches.
Ana Matilde Gomez was appointed by President Martin Torrijos in December 2004.
