PANAMA. Anti-drug naval stations will be set up in Bahia Piña in Darien, the Minister of Government and Justice, Jose Raul Mulino, said. The agreement between the US and Panama will be signed at the end of October. So far this year, 20 tonnes of drugs have been recovered by National Police and cooperating agencies.
DAVID. The governor of Chiriqui, Enrique Fernandez and the Mayor of David, Francisco Vigil, are at loggerheads over who is allowed to use the municipal garbage dump. Fernandez said that garbage from the nearby district of Bugaba could be taken there, a measure which Vigil opposes, saying that the David dump does not have the capacity to receive another municipality’s waste. The matter is now before the Supreme Court to decide who has the ultimate authority to make the decision.
