LONDON. Andy Murray boosted Great Britain's chances of a place in the Davis Cup World Group by levelling his side's play-off tie with Austria here on Friday

The Scot made quick work of Alexander Peya, racing to a 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 victory on Wimbledon's court number one to cancel out Austrian number one Jurgen Melzer's four-set win over Alex Bogdanovic in the opening rubber

The Britons would have been in a commanding position if left-hander Bogdanovic had been able to build on a blistering start which saw him take the first set and race to a 4-1 lead in the second.

But Melzer saved two break points in the sixth game and recovered to take the set on a tiebreak before going on to complete a 3-6, 7-6 (7/3), 6-2, 6-1 victory

The defeat leaves Bogdanovic, ranked 162 in the world, still searching for his first Davis Cup victory.
