CHIRIQUI. Passengers traveling to Chiriqui will soon find their journey more comfortable. When the expansion works at the Enrique Malek International Airport in David are finalized, the airport will have greater capacity for the parking of planes.

It will include a terminal big enough for a Boeing 737.

The airport is currently big enough for three airplanes to park near terminals.

With the expansion project, three more terminals will be built for the easy flow of passengers and merchandise in and out of planes.

Currently, a Boeing 737 aircraft would have to park far away from the terminal, said Ines Esquivel, regional director of Civil Aeronautics.

Esquivel added that initially the expansion project experienced complications, as fuel tanks had to be moved to allow for the construction.

But that work is now advancing at a satisfactory pace and the project is well in hand.
