PANAMA. Presidential candidate Balbina Herrera confessed feeling “outraged, violated and abused” after someone threw a beer can at her during the Carnival festivities in Penonome and has decided to submit a file a claim to open an investigation.
Herrera said that she left it upon her lawyers to determine if it is a penal case or an electoral crime.
The PRD candidate validated media claims that she approached the perpetrator after the attack to ask him why he did it, claiming that he did not deny the accusation and declared he was voting for Ricardo Martinelli.
However, Herrera denies knowing her attacker. She does, however, claim she could identify the man if she was to see him again, describing him as a 35 to 40 year old well-built man wearing an orange t-shirt during the incident.
Herrera explained that situations like this occur because “we are inciting craziness,” when in this country, “most of us are sane people.”
The candidate thanked those who have sympathized with her and her ordeal.
