PANAMA. The teachers’ unions will march through the capital city on Thursday 9 to protest against the new law that gives partial control of the education and health budgets to the municipalities instead of the Ministries of Health and Education.

The march will begin at Plaza Porras at 4:00 p.m. and will end at the Presidency where the educators are planning to talk with President Ricardo Martinelli.

The teachers are also requesting the reinstatement of Andres Rodríguez to his post, from which he was allegedly fired for being the president of the National Association of Professors.

They are also demanding that the Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, start meetings to discuss education problems in the Bocas del Toro province, as well as requesting that corruption cases continue to be investigated within the ministry.

Molinar has been under fire since the beginning due to her lack of experience.
