PANAMA. The tourism industry in Panama is still not affected by the repercussions of the global financial crisis, according to the Comptroller’s Office report on passengers coming into the country.
In November there was a 9.9 percent gain over the same period last year.
According to the report, 113,544 visitors entered the country in November 2007.
In November this year, more than 119,000 arrived.
As expected, Tocumen International Airport topped the list of arrivals at ports of entry.
With 137,481 people arriving at the airport, it registered a 11.9 percent increase in nationals, and residents compared to November of 2007.
The number of visitors entering through Tocumen increased by 7.9 percent.
As for tourists visiting the country in the month of November, the report shows that that there were more than 110,000 visitors in November.
These numbers are expected to increase as the Home Port project in Colon continues to develop.
It receives 4,000 visitors every week during the cruise season.
