The survivors of the accident are still carrying the emotional and physical scars that will never disappear.
The brothers Prospero and Ariel Ortega were found guilty of criminal negligence and were condemned to four years in prison, but the relatives of the victims did not agree with the verdict.
The legal representatives of the victims appealed the lenient sentence and they introduced a lawsuit for $190 million against the Terrestrial Transport and Traffic Authority ATTT (Autoridad de Transito y Transporte Terrestre).
The lawyers also requested that the former ATTT directors Pablo Quintero Luna and Angelino Harris, as well as Edgardo Carles, the manager of the company F. Icaza, which introduced the so called, bus of death to the country.
Currently the lawsuits are being examined by the courts.
After this incident the government decided to reform the transport system by creating the controversial Transmovil project, that aims to get rid of the “diablos rojos.”
Two years after the terrible accidents the victims and the relative have not received any compensation from the government.
