PANAMA. The Panamanian government must rescue the pockets of Panamanians by demanding that electricity companies immediately lower the price tag of energy, argues the independent candidate for Panama City’s Mayor, Miguel Antonio Bernal.
“This government is an accomplice in the robbery of Panamanians. Each time there was a price rise the government said that it was all due to the cost of oil.
“It is clear that this government pretends to continue with its double standard, stating on one hand that the crisis will not affect Panama and on the other emptying the pockets of hundreds of thousands of Panamanian homes and tens of thousands of farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises, which do not have (money) to pay the high electricity bills,” said the lawyer and human rights activist.
Bernal highlights that “it is of vital importance, that Panamanians take note of the silence of our authorities and pressure them so that our light bills are not a torture and so that they end up being less expensive. When I am mayor, Panamanians will have an outlet to fight against this type of injustice.”
Bernal invites the rest of the candidates for mayor to meet and discuss this and other relevant issues for the city.
