PANAMÁ. President Martin Torrijos said that he will not entertain polemic public arguments related to the security situation of the country, referring to the criticism made against him by the Mayor of Panama, Juan Carlos Navarro.
Torrijos added that he was proud of his government’s accomplishments over the last five years, especially his introduction of social programs and the fight against poverty.
The president recognized that they are many problems that are still need solving such as the reorganization of the public force (National Police), so it will be in better shape to fight organized crime and banditry.
He said that he has not responded to Navarro’s criticisms, because they are were made in the heat of a political campaign.
