PANAMA. As security threats in the country continue, police forces are stepping up, the time of reacting to calls to thwart some of the attacks.
Such was the case in a recent attempted robbery in Costa del Este.
Two young men entered the branch of Seguridad del Istmo in the Costa del Este Industrial Park, supposedly to solicit employment, but intending to steal guns and money.
The two delinquents, both carrying guns and knives, attempted to take a bag with 38 caliber weapons, but they didn’t get very far.
Thanks to a call made by one of the workers to the local police, officers were able to thwart the thievery.
On their way out, the two delinquents threw some of the guns onto the roof of a nearby business when they saw the police approaching.
Police forces were able to recuperate eight 38 caliber revolvers, and some 7 guns were found in the roof.
The two delinquents, 21 year old Jonathan Yosimar Lopez, and Luis Carlos Martinez, 23, were captured by the speedy and determined police reaction.
Police suspect a woman was waiting nearby to pick them up.
