PANAMA. The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) has launched the new National Stimulus Plan to boost tourism in the country. The new strategy responds to the global economic crisis and will be applied to international markets starting on August 1. It consists of discounts offered in all tourist services available in Panama such as hotels, car rentals, airline tickets, restaurants and tour operators. The plan well be aired on national and international TV ads and on the Internet. The National Stimulus Plan was developed based on the master plan for sustainable development of tourism presented for approval to the World tourism Organization (OMT). “Panama has a diverse and attractive offer and the National Stimulus Plan will make it more competitive on international markets. Tourism has been shown to be a key tool for the economic growth of the country” said Salomon Shamah Zuchin, general administrator of the ATP. Companies interested in participating in the program, must write to the the Tourism Chamber or to the ATP. Once registered, the companies will have a link on the web page www. visitpanama. com.
