The flight would travel 13.821 kilometers in 17 hours and 35 minutes and would surpass the time it takes from Sydney to Dallas.

Turkish Airlines will be operating a route to Panama starting on February, with Boeing 777-300ER airplanes and an initial frequency of three weekly flights, informed the Tocumen airport in the country’s capital.

The flight with destination to Panama will be arriving at 19:00 local time (00:00 GMT) while the flight back will be programmed for 21:00 local time (02:00 GMT) to Istanbul, in a direct path that would surpass 13 hours.

Initially, Turkish Airlines configured the route Istanbul-Bogota, Bogota-Panama, while its return itinerary will be directly from the international airport of Tocumen to Istanbul, cleared the Manager of Operations in Tocumen, Claudio Dutary.

“Turkish Airlines is adding itself to the plans of the companies, Lufthansa and Emirates Airlines, which are initiating operations with the International Airport of Tocumen during the first trimester of next year,” pointed out the official information.

The new flights from Turkish, Lufthansa and Emirates “is supposed to help growth by 9,5% in the annual traffic of Tocumen Airport , which would increase its position as the regional ‘hub’ of Latin America”.

Emirates Airlines announced last week that it will start operating a new direct flight which would be the longest in the world, connecting Panama City and Dubai starting on February 1st.

The flight would travel 13.821 kilometers in 17 hours and 35 minutes and would surpass the time it takes from Sydney (Australia) to Dallas (USA) with Qantas Airways, which as of now is the longest flight in the world.
