The girls were kidnapped after attending a party near the city Santa Barbara, about 200 km from the country's capital

Miss Honduras,  María José Alvarado,  and her sister, Sofía Trinidad Hernández, were found dead on the banks of a river in Western Honduras, according to  authorities.

The chief policeman of the investigation, Leando Osorio, informed that authorities are 100% sure that the bodies found are those of Alvarado and Hernández. Osorio also said that the author of the crime was Plutarco Ruíz, boyfriend of Hernández, and their deaths happened on the night of their kidnapping.

María José and her sister disappeared on the night of a birthday party at a beach near the city Santa Bárbara, 200 km northeast of the capital.

María José Alvarado was flying on Wednesday to London to participate in the Miss World beauty pageant, but her disappearance disqualified Honduras from the competition.

The mother of both girls, Teresa Muñoz, reported their disappearance on Saturday and authorities began looking for them immediately.
