Dr Más, who worked for more than 23 years in the institute was fired by the Attorney General of the Republic, Ana Matilde Gomez in January 2005 and later replaced by Dr. Jose Vicente Pachar.

Gomez removed Más from his post 13 days after becoming Attorney General and justified her decision by saying that it was part of the modernization plan for the Legal Medicine Institute.

Más at the time said that he was frustrated, because he was never consulted and Gomez asked outright for his resignation. The Supreme Court ordered that Más should be reintegrated immediately to his post or given a similar job with the same hierarchy and salary. He will also receive the wages owed to him from the time of his removal from his post. The assistant prosecutor, Esther Maria De Frias de Uribe was also vindicated and she should also get her job back plus lost wages.
