PANAMA. Current mobile phone service provider Movistar has launched fixed telephony services in Panama. Residential and business customers can opt for phones with features such as caller ID function, phone number and text messages storage capacity.
Movistar is offering three fixed-line plans. The Standard package includes 550 free minutes for local calls for $14.96 per month, while the Hogar Plus ('Home Plus') tariff is available for $19.96 per month and includes 800 minutes.
Customers can also subscribe to the Hogar Sin Limite ('Home Unlimited') plan for $29.96 per month and make unlimited local calls to fixed numbers. The fixed phone service is currently available in Panama City, and will be expanded to Colon by end-June. The operator plans to expand the service nationwide over the next few months.
