PANAMA. Jorge Arosemana, executive director of the City of Knowledge, was surprised to learn of the possible use of a special area for web hosting sites for online pornography companies.

Arosemena said he was unaware of the fact or of any such complaints and reiterated that the objectives and mission of the City of Knowledge are clear: “Only companies dedicated to legitimate businesses are allowed.” He was sorry that that the City could be associated with the porno industry, as such a connection would tarnish all the positive and constructive things going on within its boundaries.

According to Arosemena, the position of the City of Knowledge Foundation on the possibility of a company within its boundaries, such as Telecarrier, using the special area from to host porno web sites is clear: “We (City of Knowledge) accept companies dedicated to legitimate businesses. We understand that this company stores information for banks, insurance companies, international companies, information that is confidential and the City of Knowledge Foundation has no absolute control of the type or business of data storage,” he said.

Arosemena concluded: “If there is any information indicating that our space is being used for purposes that go against the City of Knowledge, we would proceed to investigate as far as possible.”

“If it were the case, we would immediately have to audit them, because it would be a contradiction of the spirit which led the City of Knowledge to take in this company,” he said.
