CHIRIQUI. Recent reports from the Health Ministry (MINSA) in Chiriqui reveal that dengue fever cases are increasing. The ministry registers a total of 242 cases of classic dengue and more than 500 fines applied.
The areas of David and Las Lomas were the places were the Aedes Aegypti infestation was the highest. Jose Luis Castilo, Chiriqui's medical director, said the purpose of fines are not to punish people, but to raise awareness of the population to clean their lots.
The authorities impose a fine of $10 for each location where the Aedes Aegypti is found.
