PANAMA. Panama is to be one of the principal locations for the forthcoming IX Cental-American games after Honduras had to withdraw because of political instability and a faltering economy.
The games will be held from March 2-14 next year. Guatemala and El Salvador will also host some of the events.
Panama will host athletics, baseball, basketball, football, swimming, judo, wrestling, taekwondo, softball, raquetball, and exhibitions of grass hockey and squash.
If the government authorises a budget, Panama will have just 6 months to prepare for the games, including creating the necessary infrastructure and training.
