PANAMA. During the first three months of the year the Immigration Department deported 405 foreigners, the majority of them Colombians, who did not have their paperwork in order.
According to the Immigration Department, 64 percent of those deported were Colombian, seven percent Nicaraguan, six percent were Chinese, five percent from the Dominican Republic, four percent Peruvian and the rest came from Venezuela, the United States, Haiti, Mexico and Costa Rica.
The majority of those deported did not have economic means to stay, lacked visas or had overdue permits to remain in the country.
In 2008 a total of 1,980 foreigners were deported and 68 percent of them were Colombians.
