A gallon of unleaded gasoline of 95 octane went down by 33 cents, the 91 octane by 36 cents and diesel by 36 cents.
The panorama has changed dramatically since last May when the prices were threatening to surpass the $5 mark.
The government decided at the end of September to put in place a maximum price to which fuel can be sold in order to stop gasoline stations from artificially inflating the prices.
The idea was that by making the price of fuel cheaper there would be a positive effect the cost of the basic food basket, but so far that has not been the case.
The cost of fuel has been going down mainly, because the price of a barrel of crude oil has taken a dive from near $150 to $61.84.
The government for the last few months has been trying to negotiate with the fuel distribution companies and the gas stations a compromise that could satisfy both parties.
It is expected that the government will continue with this policy for the time being, but the oil distributor company are not happy with the arrangements, because they have not received any money and are losing revenue.
