PANAMA. Panama could become a logistic bio-medical center that would have the participation of the private sector and government institutions.
The $2.6 million project, that has been supported by the Secretariat of Technology SENACYT (Secretaria Nacional de Tecnologia) aims to connect the different scientific institutions such as universities, hospitals, medical institutes and laboratories to create a database that will contain the medical and genetic information of the population, to aid detection of possible predisposition to illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and obesity.
