PanamaThis past Saturday, at Chinese cemeteries in Panama and around the world people celebrated Grave Cleaning Day. Veneration of one’s ancestors is an important part of Confucian philosophy and the Chinese way of life. Panama’s Chinese community, like its American and West Indian populations, was established in the middle of the 19th century with the building of the Panama Railroad.
