Extra money for cleaning the bay

PANAMA. The Health Ministry has requested an extra credit of $42 million to continue with the work to clean the Panama Bay.

PANAMA. The Health Ministry has requested an extra credit of $42 million to continue with the work to clean the Panama Bay.

The money is going to be used to build a so called intersect tunnel that will help to clean the capital city.

Another extra $14 million is going to be used to build a water treatment plant.

The health authorities presented their petition to the National Assembly to receive the extra credits.

The total cleaning of the Bay will cost $500 million and so far 30 percent of it has been completed.

The Health Minister, Franklyn Vergara said that it is important that the project not fall behind.

The new government is reinitiating the Panama Bay cleaning project, which had stopped for a short while.

The project is being financed by the national government, Japanese and European banks.
