PANAMA. Foreigners comparing Panama to anywhere else is tiresome. Panama is what it is - if you don't like it - as they say - then go back where you came from. Having said that, I do have to criticize one thing in Panama; the marketing. Panama has ten times more things going for it than Costa Rica - but for some reason Panama let the real estate hucksters take over the marketing. The shysters have over-promoted, misled and out-and-out lied until people don't believe us any more. All Panama is known for is the canal and soon, the drug wars. Panama needs to repackage itself - eco-tourism should be the number one industry here - not high-rises and exclusive gated communities. The indigenous populations are a treasure to be nourished, not screwed over time and time again. Panama needs a better marketing plan - and one not designed by the profiteers and construction industry. Hopefully Martinelli will listen.
