To accomplish this project the government has destined $15 million as part of the competitiveness program. The first three of the 57 irrigation systems, will be setup in the Tonosi district, Azuero and Veraguas province.

The irrigation system will be installed by the Spanish company, Servicios Industriales Agropecuarios- SIASA, and the project will be executed by the Cooperative of farmers and United Agriculturalists for the Protection of the Environment.

The system can be used for crops such as: rice, legumes, plantains, among others.
