NEW YORK. Yankees captain Derek Jeter surpassed Lou Gehrig for the most hits recorded at Yankee Stadium with his 1,270th career hit at the storied ballpark on Tuesday. Jeter singled to left field in the first inning against ChicagoSox righthander Gavin Floyd to grab his slice of history at Yankee Stadium, which will close its doors at the end of the team's current homestand on Sunday. The Yankees will move into a new stadium across the street next April. Jeter also has 8,002 at-bats as a Yankee, passing Gehrig for second place on the club's all-time list. While Jeter reached the milestone, the Yankees fell to 3-2 in their final homestand. Gavin Floyd pitched seven solid innings as theSox posted a 6-2 victory.
