OKTOBERFEST BLOWOUT. Missed local Oktoberfest celebrations? Fret not! The Elks’ Panama Canal Lodge is organizing an Oktoberfest Blowout this Friday, October 24 at Shamrock’s Restaurant in La Boca (behind the Balboa Police Station). The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and will cost only $15, all of which will go to a worthy cause.

Enjoy the tunes, the hearty Deutches Munchies-like veal sausage, smoked chops, home-made sauerkraut, 1/2 chickens for the faint-of-heartburn, sautéed German onion potatoes, the beers, the mixed drinks, the mixed crowd, the mixed-up bartenders, and all-around Oktoberfest fun. For Tickets, contact the Elk’s Club at 228-0704 or Max Crowe, 6676-2010.

COMEDY NIGHT. The Theatre Guild of Ancon is performing its third English-Language presentation of the season called: “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940”. Produced and directed by father and daughter duo, Ron and Jeanne-Marie Leggiere, “the Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” is a short comedy by John Bishop.

The play is based on several 1940s mystery movies, and for those familiar with the board game “Clue”, you might find odd similarities between the game and the play with the sudden deaths and accusing fingers pointing in all directions.

The play will be showing today October 23 until Saturday 25 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved at 212-0060. The combination of suspense and laughs promises a fun night!

CALLING ALL EXPATS: The official monthly ex-pat party will be held this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the gourmet pizza and pasta restaurant “Chris Pizza” located on Calle 50 in the Obarrio district (just before you reach the NY Plaza on the right and Dante’s Mansion on the left). Chris Pizza has a big blue sign on the left side of Calle 50 with parking in front and in the back. The event is free of charge.

Enjoy 2 x 1 drink specials, a live band playing Rock & Roll music, free samples of their gourmet brick oven pizzas and other foods. If pizza is not your thing, their is a varied menu of pastas, steaks, hamburgers, humus, Mexican food, wanton, salads, desserts and more.

The event is free and all ex-pats are welcome. Come enjoy the good food and meet old and new friends!
