PANAMA. On April 9, media groups throughout the city were left shocked, when news of the murder of Eliécer Santamaría a graphic reporter from El Siglo, was announced.

Three minors were suspected of the crime and the Public Ministry was handling the case.

However, a court has declared null on Monday any actions against the three suspected minors, including one who confessed to the crime, because their due process was violated.

The lawyer and journalist Ruben Castrejo was outraged by the decision of leaving Santamaria’s case unpunished. He said that the Public Ministry, in charge of the case, knowing the due process left the door open for the minors’ attorneys to take advantage of their errors.

One of the minors was detained for more than 48 hours without being accused. The three are involved in other cases of armed robbery.
