Anti-drugs Prosecutor, Jose Abel Almengor said the the drugs were confiscated after the police chased high speed boats that were travelling in the Atlantic waters, near the community of Ustupu.

Units from the Air and Naval Service and the National Border Patrol captured five Colombians and seized two speed boats.

The 853 kilograms of cocaine were inside bags and yesterday were taken from Ustupu to Colon city under heavy vigilance.

Almengor said that the authorities have not finishing counting the packages filled of drugs.

The border between Panama and Colombia is one of the main routes of drug traffickers, who are using the isthmus as a pit stop before transporting narcotics to the United States and Europe.
