PANAMA. The case against the double nationality of the mayor elect, Bosco Ricardo Vallarino appears to be substantiated according to a report on the local television station TVN.
Apparently Vallarino omitted to mention that he has double nationality when he last renewed his identity card (cedula). The mayor elect had been under the microscope even before the May 3 general elections, after two people from the Revolutionary Democratic Party denounced him as having a United States passport. The case was later dismissed by the electoral prosecutor, Boris Barrios.
The case is currently being investigated by the First Electoral Prosecutor Carlos Diaz. If the courts give a verdict against Vallarino he could lose the mayoral post.
