PANAMA. The Spanish information technology company Indra has won the contract to modernize the air traffic infrastructure in Panama and Ecuador.
Indra will implement a Mode S secondary radar system, and equip airports at Enrique Malek, Bocas del Toro, Gelabert and Howard with its SDC-2000 digital communications systems as well as VHF systems. It will also provide automated weather observation systems.
In Ecuador Indra will implement its Aircon 2100 air traffic management system for the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics at Quito's Air Approach Control Centre in Monjas and its SDC-2000 digital communications systems. It will also supply a simulation system that includes control and pseudo-pilot positions to train air traffic controllers and maintenance technicians.
The two contracts are worth $10.3 million, but the durations are unknown.
The Spanish company has clients in more than 100 countries.
