PANAMA. A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5. 3 shook Panama late Sunday night and could be felt in the capital city. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The tremor, the second to hit the country in two days, struck at 11:10 p.m. local time (0410 GMT, Monday) and was centered on an area 95 km northeast of Panama City, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its website.

Residents in the capital city also felt two aftershocks.

Its epicenter was located in the sparsely populated province of San Blas, the quake caused the collapse of some houses and bridges, but did not result in significant casualties or property losses.

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 struck the same location early Friday.
