Perez targeted in robbery attacks
PANAMÁ. Panamanian national soccer team winger Blas Perez was the victim of an attempted robbery early Thursday morning.

He was travelling along the La Chorrera highway when his car was intercepted by two vehicles, authorities say.
One of the vehicles collided with Perez’ car, forcing him to stop. At this point, the attack began.
The vehicle contains signs of the incident, with his back bumper completely dislodged. The car also lost one of its tire rims, said Perez.
He managed to escape from the attackers and sustained no injuries.
Perez starred for La Marea Roja, the Panamanian national team, these past weeks in the 2009 Gold Cup. In 4 matches, Perez led his team in scored goals, with a total of three, as they made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
