PANAMA. A resolution limiting public access to information has been overturned less than 24 hours after it was passed in the National Assembly.

The resolution classified as restricted infomation related to complaints and processes concerning Supreme Court judges and the President, as well as acts and resolutions of the Ethics Commission.

Overturning the resolution, the President of the National Assembly, Juan Carlos Varela, said that he “did not want to leave in any doubt the (government’s) committment to transparent management of public information.”
