AMSTERDAM. Consumer products giant Unilever NV said Friday it has agreed to buy businesses including the Sanex and Duschdas brands from Sara Lee Corp. for $1.88 billion. The businesses to be acquired, subject to regulatory approval, include Sara Lee's worldwide body care products business and its European detergents arms, which includes strong regional brands such as Radox bubblebath and Switzal.

SYDNEY.ANZ Bank said Friday it will buy Dutch-based ING Groep NV's stake in their Australian and New Zealand life insurance and wealth management joint ventures for $1.53 billion. Full ownership means ANZ will be the third-biggest life insurer and fifth-biggest retail funds manager in Australia.

KINGSTON.PM Bruce Golding has indicated that there is a possibility of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) providing Jamaica with budget support, as part of a new agreement with the multilateral lending agency. The government was forced to seek the IMF's support for its external account, mainly because of a 50 percent fall in exports.
