PANAMA. Despite the global economic crisis, the recent construction fair at ATLAPA exceeded expectations, raising $222 million for exhibitors, according to organizing committee president, Enrique Asensio.

In all, 345 Exhibitors came from Canada, Vietnam, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Italy, Costa Rica,m El Salvador, Guatemala and Germany to show off a range of construction materials, construction equipment, housing projects, and finishing and decorating products.

The exhibit on real estate was one of the most popular sites, with 136 companies showing more than 300 housing projects.

Around 300 heavy construction vehicles worth $35 million were sold.

More than 32,000 people visited the 5-day fair which finished last Sunday.

Asensio said that a survey taken on the last day showed that 67% of the exhibitors said the event was “good” for them.

This was the 22nd construction fair in Panama.

Preparations are underway for next year’s event.
